Haibun: Sacred Forest

Cairngorms National Park

We take our time walking through the hills. Heather sleeps in muddy browns and mauves. Ground-nesting birds have made their home. The scent of pine mingles with Spring, a promise of tumbling green.

  1. These words :”The scent of pine mingles with Spring, a promise of tumbling green.” Your description is visceral. And how I love that idea that the forest, as we look at it in reality is green, alive….and then in the reflection, with the ripples and the changes in the colors because of the water, it looks like a thousand years old….as in reality, the land and earth have been there for ages and ages.
And, I always love seeing photos of your dogs! 🙂

  2. Ancient water. I wonder where else it has flowed in the world, what rivers, what lakes , what oceans and gone up into the sky and rained down again somewhere new. Wonderful photos Xenia. Have a happy and healthy week.

  3. I love how you fit so much into your haibun Quadrille, Xenia, and the way keeps a slow walking pace, as you go through the hills, and the colours and scent seep in – and then the sacred forest haiku tumbles out of the green, with flowing water – a blur of movement at the end!
    As usual, perfect photography, Xenia.
It’s Tuesday morning already, so have a wonderful new week with Eivor and Pearl! 🙂 xxx
