Haibun: Small Treasures

The breeze from the sea brings a welcome freshness as we walk the winding trails between boulders and grass. Here and there, invisible hands built cairns from shingle, balanced skillfully on top of an uneven rock.

A wind-blown seed from a monkey puzzle tree has taken root between the tall grass and glitters in the sun. Oyster catchers pipe their ancient chant, from the edge of all beginnings.
