There are no words to describe how much we love you and how you will always live on in our hearts.

Eivor passed away peacefully last night. He had enjoyed so many good moments despite his illness and handled everything with such love and grace.

We will share some of those moments over the next few weeks to celebrate his life. He always wanted to live it to the full and take as many memories with him as possible.

Pearl seems to understand where Eivor is in a way that has always been much smarter than our own understanding of a spirit’s comings and goings. Her friendship with Eivor transcends his passing from one world to the next and we know that our own friendship with Eivor will transcend his passing too.

  2. Eivor will no doubt be missed. Don’t be surprised to see Pearl play with his spirit from time to time. All our animals come back to play every once in awhile. Just smile now it Eivor stopping by to say “Hi”.

Yes Pearl (and creatures in general) understand the nature of live and spirit much better than we mere humans do. i do believe that your relationship with Eivor will transcend his time on this planet. Thank you for sharing him with us for these years. I know it has been a blessing and a source of peace and strength over the years. When I light my candle tonight, I will hold you all in my thoughts.

  19. I’m sorry, Xenia. He was a magnificent, handsome, fully-alive happy dog. I know you will miss him very much. 🐾❤️ My heart goes out to you.

    You’re right about Pearl, though.

    My Golden Retriever — Kelly — died suddenly in my living room a long time ago. I held her dead body in my arms and laid my cheek against her head. I couldn’t believe it. My dog, Truffle, (lab/springer mix, a big dog) watched this for a while, then came to me, put her nose under my chin, lifted my head from Kelly’s and turned my face toward hers as if to say, “That’s enough. I’m still here.” I was blown away. Truffle and Kelly were friends. Truffle felt the loss, but she understood life and reality far better than did I. Still, I miss all the dogs I’ve lost and still, out of the corner of my eye, I sometimes see Lily T. Wolf sleeping in the corner. I know the great gift is that I have gotten to share so much with all of them.

  33. Oh, no… I just now saw this post. I’m so sorry, Xenia. I felt as though I had sort of gotten to know Eivor and Pearl a little bit over the past few months of following your blog. Please accept my sincere condolences and my heartfelt wishes of peace and healing for you and Pearl and everyone who loved Eivor. When my mom died seven years ago, it helped me to deal with it by remembering the good times we shared and knowing she was in a better place and no longer in pain. I can imagine Eivor sprinting on soft green grass on dappled forest paths right now, fast as the wind… I’m so sorry. Sending you much love from Colorado.

  35. The nicest thing and hardest thing to do was for you to love him until the end. I am so sorry for your broken 💔. I pray that when you go online and see who is a cute little puppy in a nearby shelter that you can give a home and love to a pup in need.

  38. Oh Xenia, I’m so sorry you had to say goodbye to Eivor. I know at least three other people that have lost their fur babies in the last few weeks and my heart is heavy for all. I am sending love and hugs to you and hope that your time with Eivor was precious down to the last minute.
