Haibun: Beat of the Drum

The dogs are wearing thermals under their coats and the wind-chill makes our eyes water. The sea rolls on now the storms have passed and the salt air smells invigorating. Eivor and Pearl run and chase balls. A quiet drum beats inside us, returning us to peace.

  1. That’s so wonderful they make warm blankets and even thermals for your sweet Eivor and Pearl! I’m so happy you weathered the storm safely. It brings big smiles to see those two running on the beach! I hope this week brings peaceful days and sending warm hugs to all! ❤️🐾🥰🐴💙

  2. Such calming, introspective verse and photos as always, Xenia. I’m especially fond of the photo of the solitary sea bird and the wave…this one is calling to me in such a strong voice. So beautiful! Enjoy your week, and give Eivor and Pearl a pet for me, will you? 🙂

It was beautiful to see the birds soar above the waves and I always admire them for weathering these storms the way they do. 1. Thank you so much for your kind words dear Steph, it’s beautiful out there when we’re wrapped up warm and we can see why it would be less fun for cats! Please give sweet Ziggy a gentle pat from us all 🤗💖🐈
