Haibun: The Season Keeps on Walking

Ground-nesting birds have fledged and it is safe to return to the wetlands. The lack of rain in Summer shows itself in scattered leaves and dried out bushes. A hint of gold begins to glitter in the reeds, offering us an early glimpse where Autumn’s cloak will fall.

  1. Happy Monday! Wonderful words and such peaceful photos and beautiful too. We are heading into Fall, are the seasons the same where you are there to ours? I think they are but have to ask. Thank you so much for your kind words dear Diana 💛 We’re heading towards Fall as well (we call it Autumn on our side of the Pond) 🍁 and the colours are changing earlier as we’ve had a very dry Summer.   9. Here, too. All the waterbirds and ground-nesting birds are gone and with them a lot of the bugs that plague us in summer on our walks. It’s an empty moment during with the Sandhill cranes begin to return for a short visit. It will be a few months before the geese return (February) and I will be glad to see them, too. Very beautiful poem and photos. ❤ to you, Eivor and Pearl

We’ve seen the first Canada geese head south and it will be a few more months before the Brent geese fly in to roost here for Winter.
