Tanka: Walking Back in Time

two whippets on a hillside forest trail

old road
we walk back in time
between the trees
from last year’s seeds
whose dream is now emerging

  1. I’m a fan of Tanka and Haiku. I write a lot of Haiku but do not feel I’ve come close to mastering it. It’s always the kireji, isn’t it? This was lovely – the road running both ways through time and nature. Quite sublime!

    1. Thank you so much for your kind words dear Gay and lovely to hear you are a fan of Tanka and Haiku too! 💜 I tend to use syntax for natural pauses as kireji don’t have roots in my native language’s grammar and soil 😊✍

  2. I love this poem, Xenia. Sometimes walking down familiar roads we take a trip down memory lane. It’s always good to see things like nature and our own dreams grow after some time away. Very beautiful shot of Pearl and Eivor. So crisp and love the vivid summer colours in the background. Hope you have been well 🌳🐾💖
