Tanka Prose: Finding Sanctuary

A gentle rain is scenting the dry places along the trail as we climb through the forest. The vibrant green of Spring grass opens the heart. Music from a tinkling brook echoes the gratitude we are feeling. Here, we follow our instinct. We leave all that is learned behind and surrender to the knowing.

  1. Beautiful- just found your page but couldn’t follow – will try from laptop . We are about to get a whippet 3 month puppy – so rather excited if not a bit nervous as we too have collection of animals

    1. Thank you so much for your kind words dear Ruth 💗 So lovely to hear you are welcoming a whippet into your world – your life will never be the same! They make wonderful companions and are the gentlest souls. Their prey drive can be strong and it’s great to encourage them to chase a ball or frisbee from the start so they can release that energy in a natural way without bringing harm to other living creatures 💚🐕

      1. Fingers crossed – she’s young enough to get used to them quickly. We’ve had two greyhounds live happily with three cats (the cats were there first) and they adored each other 💜

  2. I adore your whippets in raincoats, Xenia, and would love to walk your rain-scented forest trail and hear the music from a tinkling brook – I bet that water tastes sweet. The butterflies have taken cover from the weather here; I’ll be so glad to have them back.

    1. Thank you so much for your kind words dear Kim, it was blissful to walk here and the sun was very bright between the showers. I hope the weather improves where you are too and the butterflies will be back before too long! 💛🦋 xxx
