Haibun: Natural Light

The temperature has dipped and yesterday’s snow lingers on the higher ground. The light bounces through scattered clouds as we walk along the soft sand. The tide is rolling in. Even with restrictions in place there’s freedom in each movement.

My maternal grandmother was a very kind and spirited woman who pursued her dream to become a GP and cared for others during her entire life.

  2. Your images are lovely as always Xenia but your poem with your grandmother’s image stole my heart. She sounds like she must have been a wonderful role model and a loving friend for you. How nice that you resemble her – it must have given her great joy.

  4. Such a beautiful poem, Xenia. I feel the love & the heart ache. I very sadly never met my paternal grandmother, but am trying to research her short life as I’m able. I hadn’t realised how emotional it would be. Thank you for sharing such precious words with us all. Love from T & me from here. Stay safe. β€πŸΎπŸΎπŸ’• xxx
