Climbing the trail towards the Lairig Ghru we are greeted by a sweet and powerful smell of honey. We’ve been walking for an hour with the sun on our backs when Eivor suddenly stops. He looks up at the billowing clouds, then looks at us, his nose twitching to the right. We know what this means and give him a gentle pat before turning back.

Eivor seems to know how much time we have before the rain reaches us and we always take his advice.
The innate wisdom of the dogs and animals that guide us are a true inspiration and this is Eivor and Pearl’s contribution to Tina’s lovely Inspiration challenge.
In case you missed it, our earlier contribution is here.
Wishing you all a happy Monday and a happy Autumn/Spring Equinox tomorrow,
with love from Eivor, Pearl and Xenia xxx

Xenia, they are such stunning photos – what a wonderful expression on Eivor’s face! And such a sweet-scented haibun. You’ve conveyed the great communication between you and Eivor and the light and shadow of the heather.

Animals do know. A couple of years ago Biasini would not go to the west on any of the forest trails. He would go on trails to the south and east and north but not west. Later I heard a bear had been seen on one of the trails to the west. He could probably smell it! Or maybe he just knew there was a danger.

Thank you kindly dear Anne, Biasini is very bright and he would have wanted to keep both of you safe! It’s lovely when we can understand what they’re telling us and they know they’re being understood. Please give him a big pat from us all and enjoy your new day 🤗💖🐎 xxx

It must be spectacular. What does it smell like?

It truly was and the scent of heather is a subtle blend of flower and herb, unlike any other flower I know. On this day and in these weather conditions, it smelled like honey 💛
