Haibun: Cool Breeze

The crowds have left the beaches and a new calm returns. We are grateful the sand remains as pure and clean as we found it in our lockdown days. The rising sun takes the edge of the sharp wind that blows in from the North. As Eivor chases a yellow ball, we reflect how all that’s gone before has brought us to this moment.

  1. Like you Xenia, we await the departure of our island’s visitors and cherish a return to quiet. This year though, many of our visitors are staying put as they work or attend school virtually. Just one more change in the program due to Covid. Lovely image, especially loved the close-up!

    1. Thank you kindly dear Tina. It was very busy here during July and August as so many tourists who normally come at different times of the year all arrived at once when travel restrictions were lifted. It was good to see many of our regular visitors return and to see they were safe and well too but the additional crowds and traffic put a lot of strain on many Highland communities. We hope you’ll be able to enjoy a return to quieter times soon too! 💙 xxx

  2. It’s so beautiful to see those beaches wrapped in the dazzling sunlight, your wonderful dogs running on the sand. Here in Oregon we’re still under a cloud of smoke, wondering if the sun will ever shine on us again.

    1. Thank you so much for your kind words dear Alanna and we hope the rain will come soon, bring relief and help clear the air. I also hope there will be better ways found to care for the environment with everyone who can make a positive difference working together. Stay safe and well and may the sun shine on you again 🙏💛
