Haibun: Memories in Motion

It’s our first journey to the bay since the hundred days of lockdown. In my mind’s eye we visited this pebbled shore a few times, walking through old photos and the memories collected. Now I can feel the wind buffet around us, see my grandmother’s face appear in the clouds once more.

During lockdown I’ve been looking at new ways of merging poems and images and participated in a few collaborative projects with other poets, artists and photographers. The above video is the first I wove together and you can see the second one I produced in A Star Follows.

Wishing you all a wonderful Wednesday,

with love from Eivor, Pearl and Xenia xxx.

  9. It’s hard to believe it’s been one hundred days, Xenia, and your photos and haibun have me hankering for the coast. I love the haiku, and really enjoyed the trailer for Sharing our Horizon! 🙂 xx

    1. Thank you so much for your kind words dear Kim. The lockdown lasted longer than one season and it looks as if it’s been successful in keeping numbers low here in the Highlands. Regaining our freedom makes every much-loved place we revisit feel extra special now and I hope you’ll be able to enjoy a safe return to the coast real soon 🤗💖 xxx

  10. Oh my….soooo late to the reading…I am hosting Monday Prosery in about 25 minutes so just trying to catch up a bit before I am engrossed in chats and posts for today. BUT I am SOOOO Glad I found this and got to watch the video. I’ve always so enjoyed your poetry and so enjoyed your dogs. There is a connection between nature and your beautiful animals and I can tell you love both (nature and dogs) so deeply. This was just a wonderful read and view! Thank you!

  12. Xenia, I enjoyed your whippet haibun and images. I was once fortunate enough to have a friend’s whippet with me for 2 weeks in the rocky mountains. I was amazed at the dog’s grace and demeanor. She didn’t run, she flowed.
Thanks for visiting my site. I might write a piece about “My Time with a Whippet”.
