Tanka Prose: Pink Moon Rising

Dewdrops glitter on freshened leaves, lemon sunlight touches the grass. Our hair grows long while the shops stay closed, nature breathes easy in the open.

one more run
on these wind-swept sands
a kind place
will stay with us
when the pink moon rises

Our thoughts are with the families and friends who have lost loved ones and our gratitude flows to all the health, care and supply workers who are holding everything together.

Wishing you all a blessed Tuesday,

  1. This is so lovely. And the sacred truth about running outside is so resonant in these lines, “one more run
    on these wind-swept sands
    a kind place
will stay with us.” Just reading them reveals a kind place that stays with me. Thank you.

  2. Love this. So fun to see your doggies still roaming free.
“Our hair grows long while the shops stay closed, nature breathes easy in the open.” — This is such a powerful, lulling line. May we allow ourselves to grow during this time, whatever that looks like for each of us.

    1. Thank you so much for your kind words dear De, we’re grateful we can still exercise the dogs as part of our own daily exercise. Hope you are keeping safe and well too 💜 xxx

  3. I love the focus on detail in this haibun, Xenia, as well as the down to earth pragmatism in: ‘Our hair grows long while the shops stay closed’. Keep on running on windswept sands! xxx

    1. Thank you so much for your kind words dear Cathy, I can imagine Finn would love it 🧡 The soft sand blowing into drifts gave the beach a very otherworldly feeling. Wishing you and Finn a very cosy evening too 🤗💖🐕 xxx

  4. Beautiful words…..beautiful photos. Your dogs always make me smile…..I love their sense of freedom! I shall close my eyes, even if just for a moment, and be with them romping there! 🙂 Stay healthy and safe, my friend.
