Haibun: Into the Pure Land

Cairngorms National Park

We’re climbing the trail where Winter still lives on the hillside. Snow laces between heather and grass, delightful in simple patterns. Every step brings a deeper awareness. An awareness of what matters most. Companionship, looking after one another, only ever taking what little is needed and giving plenty back. Walking here in the sun, it is love that anchors the way.

  1. You had me with your last line, /it is love that anchors the way/. A phrase that belongs on a sampler under a framed Norman Rockwell Post cover.

    1. Thank you so much for your kind words dear Kim 🧡 The ski resorts here have had the best snow covering in years and remain open, asking the skiers to stay well apart. The walkers we meet are all sensible too and taking the social distancing in good humour. Wishing you a speedy recovery Kim and much love from our house to yours 🤗💖 xxx

    1. Thank you Björn, it’s a true blessing, especially in these times. The National Parks and ski slopes remain open and people are encouraged to spend time in the great outdoors, keeping a respectful distance. Hope you and your family are all safe too.
