Tanka: Where Moss Flows

two whippets in winter jackets climbing a forest trail in winter
a black whippet in a winter jacket waiting at the corner of a rising forest trail

all is silent
where the dog pauses
eyes full of love
in the shadows of a rock
moss flows and flows

  1. Thursday (Thor’s Day) is enhanced with whippet wisdom and moss melodies, another Scottish ballad, thanks. That last photo is magnificent.

    1. Thank you so much for your kind words dear Lisa, they always wait for us and check which way we want to go 💚 The rock looks full of stories and we wondered how it ended up where it is – we will visit again and ask 🙂💖 xxx

  2. How soothing to find that you and your dogs are still out and about, Xenia, exploring the beauty where you live. I love your poem and I love moss on rocks especially that fine, velvety sort. I enjoy your words and your wonderful photos so much.

  3. I’m taken with the description of moss flowing. I always think of it as creeping. My daughter lives in Oregon, where moss seems to cover everything, including rooftops, during the rainy winters.

  4. Just imagine the history those moss covered stones have seen. So many folks walking by, some happy, some sad. And now they’ve witnessed the true treasure of your Beauties enjoying their paths worn through the years. 🙂
