Haibun: Moon Echoes

The beach is still covered in driftwood while the sea oozes calm. We come here again and again, for poems and photographs, playing ball and silver shimmies. Yet every day is different. The crispness of the air, the salt on our lips. There’s always a variation, a moment within us, born anew.

the circles in life
as round as December’s moon
echoes, echoes

  1. Lovely work Xenia – so lyrical… I especially liked your close:
“There’s always a variation, a moment within us, born anew.

    the circles in life
    as round as December’s moon
    echoes, echoes”

  2. Eivor and Pearl look so happy running on the beach with their colourful ball, snug and warm in their coats. Have you discovered any unusually shaped driftwood? I once collected and varnished such pieces. I felt the ‘crispness of the air’ and tasted the salt as I read your haibun, Xenia. The haiku is beautiful.
