Haibun: A New Focus

Behind the scenes our companion has been doing deep work and research into her family trees. She was already familiar with the Swiss and Frisian connections. Now she’s discovered a line that goes back to sixteenth century Flemish and Dutch roots, to people who settled on land that used to be sea. Looking at images of their West Coast we see the same waters, a spiritual connection through landscape and time.

    1. Thank you so much for your kind words dear Laurie 🙂💜 It’s so lovely to discover this because the Frisian records were all lost during WW2 and I can only go back three generations in that branch of the family 🙂💖 xxx

      1. Our human’s 4th great grandmother was born in Affoltern-am-Albis in Canton Zürich. ❤ She died giving birth to our 3rd great grandfather (numbers might be wrong) who emigrated with his dad to America in 1743. Three of my historical novels are about my Swiss family. ❤

      3. I wrote a book called Savior. A man in CH who’d read Martin of Gfenn suggested I might have Swiss ancestry — many Americans do. I researched and I found them. And the people in my book (already finished except the ending) lived exactly where I’d imagined and had the same names I’d given my characters. It was very eerie. BUT I got the ending from my book — clearly it was my own family so there I was.

        After that I consciously looked for where they were in relation to historical events that interested me — like Zwingli’s reformation and there they were. Two of them fought in the Second Battle of Kappel, one of them died.

        I had already been in CH many times and always felt something strange about the city of Zürich. I love it more than any other place on earth (except maybe my valley). It’s just weird. ❤
