Haibun: Nature’s Layers

Cross bedding and layers of rock show us how much the climate here has changed. Permian sandstone tells us this area was once a hot and arid desert.

With gorse and heather growing along the top, sea pinks flowering in the cracks and a haven for nesting sea birds, part of these rocks are now underwater at high tide. With one sniff and a good climb along the walls, Eivor and Pearl quickly make sense of it all.

  1. It’s amazing looking at cliffs and seeing the different layers, but who would have thought Scotland was once a desert! Great photos, Xenia 💚 Happy Tuesday to you all and enjoy the rest of the day 🤗🐕🐾xxx

    1. Thank you so much for your kind words dear Cathy, it came as a surprise to me when I read about it in a geological survey to find out more about the sandstone – the land here has been covered by glaciers as well 🙂💜 Happy Tuesday to you too and much love to you and Finn from all of us here 🤗🐾💖🐾 xxx
