Haibun: Summer Solstice

The forest is quiet as we leap and skip over dips with sleeping water. Trees and sky reflect in puddles across the path. I too reflect how far we’ve come. The long grass glitters in the light. Butterflies and hoverflies are dancing. After a week of wind and rain, it’s good to be back in the warm.

Thank you dear Laurie, it’s a beautiful day for a birthday and a special day to hold her in your heart and light a candle 💜 A friend of mine, who passed across the rainbow twenty years ago, also had her birthday on this day.   13. Yes! Summer is upon us. Hard to believe it’s that time of the year again. And, so ironic that the days will start shortening already, from the moment it’s summer and warm.
