Tanka: Stone Steps

black whippet in a black harness walking on rocks and sniffing the seaweed at low tide

stone steps
so easy to trust
where they lead
when the moon floats by at night
to leave her blessings

  1. Dear Xenia, your photographs and your lovely running friends are always so beautiful. How you capture all these actions, I admire. They are so lovely and cute ones. Blessing and Happiness to you all.

Your tanka poems are another point that fascinating me. You hit the dept of the photograph, in another saying, depth of the thought within the photographs….

In this one, I can say, your words hit me more, especially your way of expression about trusting the stone steps, talked to my heart. I think the most beautiful part to trust your land, your country,….. Can’t be more than this to express this trust… Maybe you mean the nature, nature without damages by human, but in any case will take us your land, your country. I thought of myself instead of you, I couldn’t have done this,…the word “trust” made me so excited and also “floating her blessing….” these are great touches. I should have shared with you, so I did.

    Thank you, Love, nia

    1. Dear Nia, thank you so much for your kind words – I am so glad you enjoy the photographs of Eivor and Pearl playing and exploring 💜 Thank you also for your beautiful response to the tanka poem – it is lovely when you read a poem that lets your own thoughts fly. Standing by those ancient stone steps they looked so solid to me, as if they had been there for thousands of years. I wondered how many people had walked on them and felt the same solid support beneath their feet that we did. I imagined the moon gliding by at night. I am so glad this moved you and you could connect it to your own experience of trusting the land, your country. Thank you so much for sharing this – blessings and happiness to you too! 🤗💖🐕

      1. Thank you dear Nia, this is so moving and so beautifully said. These are important questions, who we can trust, what we can trust. I hope nature and the natural world can bring you some of the answers xxx
