Haibun: Glistening Sea

two whippets walking across shingle by the beach at low tide

We tiptoe across shingle to sands down below, the pools and a haze of blue mountains. The wondering and what-ifs are over now. The river flows out to a glistening sea, gathering stones full of meaning.

  1. This is a beautiful ode to your lost friend. I’m reminded of the stones some place on headstones as they visit their loved ones. Here, the beautiful river flowing out to the sea…could be read as the tears shed now flow out to the sea .. to nature’s beauty and balm.. our your friend’s spirit released.
    Truly a lovely post.

    1. Thank you so much for your kind words Lillian. The river is symbolic for the tears flowing – it has been a difficult time for families in the community with people lost in avalanches too xxx.
