Haibun: Every Faith

black whippet in blue/grey fleece with a yellow ball on the beach

Last week saw one full day of Spring. Visitors came pouring in to catch a sea of smiles. People were buying ice cream, willing the temperature to rise higher and higher.

It was great fun while it lasted. Today begins with icy winds from far out East that chill the bone.  We know this too will pass. We know there will be new days with a sea of smiles. A man in winter coat and woolly hat buys himself ice cream, grinning “Always keep believing!”

  1. We dream the future! Same here in Maine, and we are keen on ice cream, too, even when the air is cold, and there is snow on the ground.

  2. Here the snow has melted, helped by coldish rain. April showers making it be known that the snow was no match to them, and yes, the flowers will grow and the summer will come. Sending same to you! LOVE LOVE LOVE the photo of the beauty in the blue coat. What a fabulous black coat! Stunning!

    1. Thank you so much for your kind words dear Na’ama! Great to hear the snow has melted where you are :o) Eivor says thank you too and loved the warm sun on his black fur. Soon it will be warm again! :o) xxx

      1. Thank you Na’ama, in European it would be ‘I-vor’ and in American English it would be pronounced ‘E-vor’. Hugs back from a cold and wet (sleet, rain, hail) Scottish Highlands! :o) xxx

  3. I see Eivor and Pearl are still in Winter coats. Faith will win out in time and Spring flowers will be your reward. Down in South Texas we are almost wishing for a little more Winter, as it approaches 90 farenheit daily, whew

    1. Thank you for your kind words Suzanne, these Eastern winds from Siberia are very different from the arctic winds from the North we are so used to! Folk are hardy and by nature optimistic here and we do believe it will warm up again! 😉💜🌞

      1. Yes I hope winter finally breaks and spring emerges in your part of the world. It does sound like you have experienced some extreme weather this year.

  4. That ‘sand storm’ in the second image gave me a chuckle, but I understand the wind was cold and fierce. I hope the cold weather will pass soon…it’s time for spring!

    1. Thank you Helen, the wind-chill makes it feel much colder than anyone expects, especially for some of the visitors! The forecast for next week is already better and according to a local sage, it will get warmer in the second half of April ;o) xxx
