one day of warm
can melt all the snows

seals bask in the sun
calling their pups

watched by a cormorant
on a pole in the river

cast your net to
capture the sounds

follow your gaze

feel nature give poetry
in her making

  1. Thank you, Xenia, for this wonderful Monday treat. Beautiful quadrille and photos! I love seals! I grew up near the Pacific Ocean in Southern California, hearing and seeing seals and sea lions. And cormorants! In New England and elsewhere they call them “shags”. We have their cousins, anhingas, here in Southwest Florida. How hopeful the snow is gone!

    1. Thank you so much for your kind words dear Shielagh 💜 So lovely to hear you grew up with the sounds of seals and sea lions – such a treat for a child and a great introduction to wildlife and nature. I had never heard of anhingas before and will check them out. We have had snows a few times this Winter followed by the reprieve of a warm spell – we will enjoy the warm while it is here! We wish you a wonderful new week and much love to you from all of us here ☺💖🐕 xxx

      1. Hi Xenia! I got a chest infection on our Silver Wedding trip to Venice. We got back yesterday evening and I’m trying to warm up the house while catching up with everything. The poems are cheering me up! xxx

      2. Happy Silver Wedding Anniversary Kim!🎉🍾 Hope your infection clears up soon – manuka honey, ginger and a thermal layer often help and there are a lot of quadrilles to enjoy at the bar! 😉💖 xxx
