Kristjaan at Carpe Diem invites us to write haiku, tanka or other Japanese poetry inspired by the song ‘Wonderful Life’ by Colin Vearncombe (aka Black).

Colin passed away surrounded by his family just under a year ago and this post is also a tribute to him and his music. Below is a video clip of him performing the song he became most famous for:

    1. Thank you so much for your kind words Kristjaan and for providing this beautiful prompt 💜 Colin was involved in a car accident in County Cork last January and put in an induced coma but sadly died from his injuries. He was very creative and interested in the spiritual aspects of life and wrote poetry too.

  1. Oh Xenia, I love this tanka, the amazing joyful photos of Elvor and Pearl, and this touching song by Colin! I’d never heard that before. Your contribution is a blessed reminder of the magnificence of this life, including how music and nature and our loved ones inspire this experience inside of us. I am honored to share this for #ForgivingFridays.

And for me personally, this post came at the perfect time – I needed a reminder of the wonder of this life. (I have an affirmation that says “I choose life, trusting in the grace of my heart.”) Much love to you Xenia and many blessings to Elvor and Pearl!
