Next to the red scented candle stands a photograph in a small frame, propped up by a stone from the river. It was a Christmas greeting from our friends that came as such a wonderful surprise. It was 1991 and after two years in Edinburgh we returned to London for our first Christmas as a married couple.
The photograph is a shot of Picadilly Circus at night. On the main advertising screen a simple message reads ‘Merry Christmas Xenia & Paul’. It made us feel at home.

That is so lovely, Xenia. What a special memento to have. I’m glad I’m not alone in keeping special cards. At times, I miss joining in the busyness of the west end at Christmas. Warm wishes from here.🎄xxx

Thank you so much for your kind words Penny. I sometimes miss the Christmas lights of London too and the smell of roasted chestnuts. This city will always have a very special place in my heart. Warm wishes from here for you and Tia :o) xxx

Holy guacamole! That was quite the surprise. Neat to think how you have lived in the city as well as the country.

Thank you Laurie! I was born in the country and although I loved all the years I lived and worked in the city it is great to be back in a quieter place at this time in our lives 😉💖 xxx
