sometimes we gasp for air while we climb
each mountain anew and feel
pressure to succeed that is not true
to our own nature – time to assess
each fork on the road, see what is
mirrored to our soul, find the beauty in wabi-sabi
boulders and heather while this new dawn
enchants us with her earthbound song
receive this gift, accept these blessings

Frank at dVerse Poets has invited us to write an acrostic poem:
“To write an acrostic poem, take a word or phrase and use each letter as the first letter of each line in the poem. One should be able to read that word or phrase vertically down the left side of the poem. There are no other constraints. Each line can be metrical or free verse or even a prose poem paragraph.
There are many variations to the acrostic form, all of which are acceptable for this challenge. Lewis Turco in his “The Book of Forms” even provided names for some of these variations. If one has a word on both the first and the last letter, that is called a ‘compound acrostic’.”
The poem above is my first attempt at a compound acrostic poem and we wish you all a very blessed September!
With love from Eivor, Pearl and Xenia xxx

I think I spelled acrostic wrong in my earlier comment. Too bad there isn’t an edit button. 🙂

I love purple heather! I bought a gorgeous rug in Scotland years ago which is just the right shade – it’s perfect in cold weather and the cats love sitting on it when I have it on my lap. I can feel a chill in the air this morning but the sun’s shining here too. have a great weekend. 🙂 xxx
