Quadrille: August Blessing

black whippet jumping from rocks onto tidal sand with an orange ball

a warm August tale
wanders through
the Highlands –
‘twenty-two degrees
and rising,’
she sings
‘shimmer in the bliss
of this!’

we pluck
the joy from the skies
with all the reverie
a grateful heart
can hold
before Autumn
unfolds
her canvas
with new gold

  1. I love the pups with their bright pink ball – now that is bliss! And gifting us with autumn gold – such richness. I can hardly wait for fall. Here in the southern US, we will not get traces of fall for at least until mid-October. I love this poem a lot!

  2. Soooo late to the reading! Apologies….grandkids with us Sunday through Wednesday.
ALWAYS love the photos of your dear friends that you use….they just expound joy! And ah yes…the bliss of those last moments of play in the summer….before the trees turn their beautiful colors….I do love the transitioning.
