Quadrille: Ancestral Flame

black whippet standing on the beach

summer me
a new day
with rays of love

breeze me
a new sea
with waves
of white horses

I follow my heart
leap forward
into a zone

where ancestors
have flown
so fast

their light
still flickers
inside

my soul
enjoying
the ride

  1. Oh my Eivor! You certainly flickered this Quadrille beautifully. their light still flickers inside my soul enjoying the ride –
I am sure your ancestors enjoy the ride as well. Beautiful Quadrille. Hugs to you.

  2. I enjoyed your flickering ancestral flame, Xenia, especially the lines:
    ‘breeze me
    a new sea
    with waves
of white horses’ – which got me humming the song to Belle and Sebastian!
It’s a lovely sunny afternoon – I hope you’re out and about and enjoying it with Eivor and Pearl

    1. Thank you Kim, I will have to google that song! It is too hot outside for Eivor and Pearl, we were walking early today and will walk again later when the sun is lower in the sky. Enjoy the rest of your day! 🌞💜 xxx

  3. Oh this is wonderful! I see your beloved dogs, running, embracing the wind…..and knowing their ancestral heritage has bred this free spirit within their souls. Wonderful!

  4. I love the idea of ancestors’ light still flickering in our souls. I like to think that the light of our dogs flickers on as well, long after they are gone from this world. Perhaps Eivor’s ancestors were the ones you meant. 🙂 As usual, the pictures are wonderful, too.

    1. Thank you for your kind words Linda 💜 When I saw a flicker of Eivor’s ancestors in his eyes it mirrored the ancestral flame in my own subconscious. I too believe the light in our dogs flickers on after they cross the rainbow ☺🐾🐾

  5. Stunning poetry, Xenia. Love the ride on waves of white horses. I’m excited about my journey to Hawaii for my daughter’s wedding at the end of August, so I can ride those waves also. The ocean calls to me. 🙂
