Tuesday Photo Challenge: Healthy

Eivor had sprained a muscle while running in the dunes just over a week ago. He was given some anti-inflammataries by the vet and limited to short walks on the lead for the first five days.  After that he was allowed to potter and sniff off-leash, while running with the ball had to wait a little longer. He looked deep into my eyes to ask me why.

While Eivor was limited to short walks I took Pearl out for an extra walk each day and she enjoyed our ‘girlie’ time.

Today the cold weather front has passed and it feels like Spring again. Eivor is walking so much better and is ready to rock.

We are always so grateful when our dogs are healthy and can do what they love to do.

  1. Hope Eivor is feeling better ( a vet trip is due for my mother’s pup…he’s old enough now for the you-know-what ) and will soon be back to full speed. Lots of love to you all 😺xxx

    1. Thank you for your kind words Samantha – Eivor is doing much better and we just have to manage his exercise a bit because he loves to run and leap at full throttle. I hope all will go smoothly with Rocky’s operation and we wish him a very speedy recovery ;o) I hope you are keeping well and much love to you all :o) xxx

  2. An injury can be an indication that the body’s soft tissues are lacking in flexibility and, even after Eivor is feeling well and the initial inflammation is gone, the elasticity is still a problem. I would recommend seeing a canine massage therapist for a bit of massage and stretching – on a regular basis. These dogs are high performance athletes.

    1. Thank you for your kind words. Eivor had a tiny sprain in one front paw after landing in deep sand from a big jump. The swelling is gone and he is putting his full weight on it again. The vet advised to take it easy for another week and if there are any further problems they can offer massage or acupuncture too. Eivor and Pearl both naturally do lots of stretching after their walks and keep themselves very flexible. The sea water is getting warm again which is also great for their muscles. ☺

    1. Thank you Lois, Eivor is doing very well and wants to run again – he seems to think there was nothing wrong with him in the first place! Pearl loved her girlie time and she will get more of that over the warmer months 😉 xxx

  3. Glad Eivor is better. I know it was hard to look into his eyes and not be able to explain why he was on a short leash and not able to run. Glad spring temperatures have returned too.

    1. Thank you so much for your kind words. Eivor did not think there was anything wrong, especially when he was still on the anti-inflammataries which also act as a painkiller. Bless him, he understood we meant well and was a very good ‘patient’. I hope you are keeping well and much love to you and Tippy xxx
