An arctic wind blew past last week, bringing sleet and snow, winter coats and woolly hats. Inside, the fire roared once more and banter rose up the chimney. Winter’s music had returned and we remembered the dance. A few days on we wonder if it really happened. We walk in short sleeves on the beach, listening to the song of the gulls and the gentle splash of waves on rock.

Yes April did wag her tail! But now it is May and I hope she will leap and prance and dance. Love the haiku and the pics of Eivor and Pearl.

Not quite Arctic, but spring is still on hold here too. Only until Wednesday apparently. ‘April wags her tail’ great line 🙂

Thank you Jane, we have just leapt from -4C to 17C, which gives plenty of hope for all of us ;o) xxx

17°C as far as I’m concerned is still cold! But then we didn’t have temperatures as low as -4°C at all this winter. A couple of days of -2°C in January was our limit.

Nice! We had “almost snow” last Thursday and cold rain today. It’s been a crappy few days, but the sun and warmer temps are on their way for Wednesday. I will be running around just like the whippets, doing the happy dance. 🙂

You got the full force of that arctic wind by the sound of it, Xenia – you must have got our share! I love your take on the prompt and especially the haiku!

Thank you for your kind words Kim and we did get our full share straight from the North Pole! It has thankfully passed and today was our first day of enjoying a coffee outside the café by the harbour and slapping on the sunscreen and midge repellant in equal measure ;o) xxx

The Cafe by the Harbour – a good title for a poem. It sounds wonderful. I am brewing plans to visit Scotland at some point in the future. Always loved it but only ever got as far as Aberdeen and Peterhead. I would love to visit the islands but it is a very long journey and I don’t travel well.

Thank you Kim, there are a few small harbour cafés around here that will make a lovely subject for a poem ;o) The islands are beautiful. We have only been to Mull and Iona many years ago and loved it. There is so much beauty on the mainland too that may be easier to reach for you :o) xxx

Today was glorious blue here but the wind still had a bite….April wagged her tail and then it got caught in the door 😉
Lovely haibun and haiku.

cold and dreary with a lot of endless rain here in Ontario. Bleak. Even the horses are miserable out in it turning their tails to the wind. Come on May, let’s have some spring!

Beautiful words and Haibun. It’s hard when you think Spring has arrived and then winter reminds you that it still has a little energy left. We have had some temperatures in the 80°Fs but are supposed to get frost on Monday morning. It just feels so much colder when the changes are sudden.

Thank you for your kind words and I agree, it feels much colder when the snap appears after warm Spring weather. I hope your forecast frost will melt again soon! Keep warm and enjoy the rest of your weekend :o) xxx
