I read your haiku and wondered what a weaving burn was. When I looked at your photos everything was revealed. The dog is burning through the bush weaving a trail and the burn (or creek as we call them over here in Oz) is weaving through the landscape. We have a lot of Scottish names for natural features over here because some many Scottish people came in the days of Highland Clearances when this country was first being settled by white people. The name ‘burn’ did not travel over though. I do like the idea of a creek burning a path through the land.

Thank you for your kind words Suzanne. It is always interesting to see which words travel the miles and settle in new lands when people migrate and ‘burn’ clearly was not among them in Australia. It is a name for fresh running water I have grown to love since moving to Scotland and the energy of ‘tumbling burns’ features in several of my mountain haiku and other poems 💖 xxx

The images and haiku are an invitation to explore, it looks great by the water or is it cold?

Thank you Denis, we had a strong icy wind this day which made the temperature drop to 4C and blew the sand across the beach. We found shelter in ‘the forest on the dunes’ – a different playground for the dogs with wonderful views of the beach (where we normally walk) without getting the sand in our eyes 🌲🌞

That sounds cold heading towards Summer. Hope the dogs can get out on that beach soon.

We are used to very changeable weather in April and have been back on one of the rockier tidal beaches where the sand does not fly 😉
