It’s amazing that those parts of the castle remain standing!! They’re standing silently, sentinels to more dangerous times.

Thank you J.R. – these are the remains of a folly said to have been modelled on the Gates of Negapatam in India. The building of the monument was commissioned by Sir Hector Munro to provide work for local people affected by the clearances in 1782.

Amazing photos, folly aside, such inspiring relics of the past, still noble in their tracery. My paternal ancestors were Scots and it still calls me.
