Gorgeous imagery and images, Xenia! I love how you place them firmly in the Highlands with the words ‘glen’ and ‘pine’, and those final lines are wonderful:
‘melting snows lace their magic
in the ordinary’

Thank you so much for your kind words Kim, it was pure magic walking in the glen this week and I wrote the tanka during the walk 💖 xxx

Walking is great for writing. Did you take a notebook or do you speak into one Note on a mobile phone?
I’m currently working on two pieces for The Poetry School, all to do with place names. They involve some research, so I’m not free thinking at the moment. I’ll go for a walk later to lumber up those imaginative muscles! xxx

Walking is great for writing and the words seem to fall on the page in a natural way. On our walk through the glen I typed the tanka into my phone – I used to carry a pocket size notebook and pencil but find the phone easier these days ☺ Your project sounds interesting and I wish you a wonderful walk to lumber up your imaginative muscles ☺💖🐾🐾

I love your poetry, Xenia. “…lace their magic with the ordinary” is such a lovely idea. I hope to see the magic in the ordinary today. Thank you for the inspiration.

Thank you for your kind words Luanne. It was so magical to walk through the glen in the morning light and the pattern created by the melting snow reminded me of Dutch lace. Have a wonderful day and enjoy the magic in the ordinary 💖 xxx

The scenery in these images is new to me, the pups seem more concentrated on the immediate surroundings. The poem reflects the imagery beautifully Xenia

Thank you for your kind words Denis. The scenery was covered in frosr when it featured in my ‘Frozen Footsteps’ haibun and my ‘Silent Poet’ haiku in November and the colours are very different now.
