Haibun: Song For A New Day

The sun rises above the dunes and the chill of the night’s frost evaporates with every step in the soft sand. Sea and sky treat our eyes to pale blues and indigos. A third eye opens and sees beyond the horizon of this morning’s dream. Our intuition is here to guide us through our day. We hear her voice in the seagull’s call, the soothing movement of the sea.

light reaches and folds
in rhythm with the waves
song for a new day

      1. It’s inspiring me to get out and take my own walk on the beach this morning. I have been procrastinating sitting here reading blogs but the light is calling. 🙂

    1. Thank you for your kind words Marina and I understand where you are coming from. The joy of movement has been part of so many posts already and these prompts inspired a different approach where image, prose and haiku complement each other. The images represent the energy of joyous movement and the prose and haiku contribute different aspects of the same moment.

    we’ve danced here before
    waves recognising the sand
    little ripples blushed

    waves singing welcome
    new dawn chorus splashing tunes
    watch those whippets run

    wonder dogs flying
    Xenia’s wishes she could too
    wonder woman

    natures never jokes
it holds our fate between breaths
    hurting holding back

    light winds gentle sea
dusk dawns the moon looking wry
    beware spring high tides

    walks along the shore
    beach combing tide lines
    smell that fresh sea air

    hark the sea roaring
    hurricane drum rolls the waves
    coast erosion rife

    storms woe stress and strife
    the waves doing battle war
    frothing white horses
