Tanka: Eyes Of Spring

Today we say goodbye to a friend and kind-hearted soul who always gave us a pet and sometimes a treat. He and our companion would look out over the sea to see if they could spot the dolphins he loved to carve in wood.

There was always laughter and he kept telling us what lovely dogs we were. We loved him too and now the angels have taken him to a place where he will be as loved as he was when he walked on our shores.

Our companion has written a tanka for him:

twinkling eyes of spring
tell stories of the seasons
reasons for bliss
with ever-after banter
the wind carries your laughter
