There is a light rain in the forest and the clouds are full of water. We are wearing rain coats for when the skies want to shower the earth a bit more.
I love the smells of rain on leaves. They look so green and full of life. The forest floor is soft under my paws.
Earlier rains have washed away layers of soil and I stop to look at the bare roots of a tree. They look like thick branches who mirror the ones above.
An old man approaches slowly with a border collie by his side. He wobbles on his legs when he looks up at the tree and smiles.
“Beautiful,” he says. “Beautiful.”
I touch his hand with my nose and he pats me gently on my head.
“Nice doggie,” he says.
A woman in a long rain coat walks by and whispers “Vascular dementia,” whilst nodding at the man.
Our companion smiles back at her and understands.
The old man stands there smiling at the tree as if he has become a child again. His layers have been washed away by time and his border collie looks at him full of love.
I am sending you all so much love,
