Sweet Dreams, Sweet Seamus

IMG_20160601_112225 ww

Seamus was wagging his tail and had a big smile on his face. The sun was out and the waves were gently rolling towards the shore. He broke into a canter to say hello to some of his doggie pals further along the beach.

He never reached them.

The vet said he had suffered a heart attack and that the kindest thing would be to let him go.

So we said:

Sweet dreams, sweet Seamus. Thank you so much for walking by our side for the last thirteen years like the best friend we could ever have wished for.

Thank you for climbing the fells and crags with us and taking us to the beaches, lochs and glens we might not have discovered without you.

Thank you so much for welcoming and helping to rehabilitate so many other rescue dogs in our home and in our friends’ homes.

Thank you more than anything for helping Flynn, Fergal, Ruby, Eivor and Pearl leave their past worries behind.

Thank you for showing them the way to a happier life.

Your legacy lives on and we are so grateful to have shared this journey with you.

Let your spirit run free.

I know that we will meet again on the other side of the rainbow.

Loving you always,

Xenia

  2. Oh no! So sorry to hear about this. When I first read that Seamus didn’t make it to his friends down the beach, I thought it was going to be another tale of him stopping to help a human who needed him. I was shocked to see that he had passed away. I know it doesn’t really help with your sorrow, but I was glad it happened while he was loping up the beach and happy. I imagine him just loping on over the rainbow bridge, getting faster and faster as he went. Rest in peace, sweet Seamus!

  3. so sorry for your loss .. i could feel your heartache.. my Johnny died peacefully in his sleep and i was still holding his food in the morning when i saw him laying down and already lifeless.. the vet told us that maybe he suffered a heart attack too because he’s old at 11yrs.. large breed doesn’t live long.. Seamus, say hi to Johnny at the RB, he’s a good playmate and he loves to run.. hugs to you xenia ..

  4. I’m so sorry to hear about poor Seamus. The death of my own cat some time ago was devastating so I understand the pain. Lots of love to all of you, his photo show just how beautiful he is. Give yourselves time to grieve but be happy knowing you will meet again one day.

    1. Thank you so much for your kind words Amy. Seamus is one of those dogs who always brings a smile to our faces, even now when we are remembering so many wonderful times we had together. He always brought the best out in everyone and we can feel him smiling down on us from heaven. We are so grateful he was part of our lives for such a long time. He is no longer physically with us but we can all feel his spiritual presence in some way. Thank you for your love, we send love and happiness your way too :o)
