Haibun: Song Of Love

It feels as if there is a higher force at play from way beyond the stars. When a physical journey brings rescue dogs to their new home their inner journey is just beginning.

Eivor knew straight away. ‘I have come home and I am here to stay’. Going out for the first time was frightening for him. His previous world had been so small. The soothing sounds of a flute helped to calm his nerves. He now looks forward to every new adventure. Pearl was too frightened to go into friends’ houses on our travels and seemed worried that we would leave her there. When she heard the song ‘In The Light of Love’ for the first time she flung her front paws around my neck and gave me a big hug. We both knew in that moment that we would be just fine. That we are meant to travel this journey side by side.

Mish at dVerse Poets has invited us to choose one line from a favourite song and grow our own poem from it. I chose the line ‘In the light of love’ from the song ‘In the light of love/om shree dhanvantre namaha’ by Deva Primal, Miten and Manose. Below is a video clip for you to enjoy:

With love from Eivor, Pearl and Xenia xxx

  1. Oh, my! What a post! A story of hope and the power of love. And now look at those dogs run, run, run in one of the most beautiful settings I have ever seen. Makes me teary eyed to think of how they can now run free.

      1. So very heartening and lovely to read, especially in the face of all the nasty things happening in this country. I stay informed. I do. But I swear it is blogs such as yours that help me keep my sanity.

  4. This is a lovely post coming at just the right time. This past weekend has been filled with much discord and dare I say hatred on this side of the Atlantic. To see your dogs and to read this story is like a beacon of hope. All the world is not full of hatred and there are people ( and animals) who still know how to love and to enjoy life l living free

    1. Thank you for your kind words Anne 💜 There is still a lot of love in the world and animals can show us how to live in the moment and love unconditionally. We send love and light your way and please give Biasini a big pat from us too ☺💖 xxx

  5. Your opening line says it all. I think that higher force is love…pure, unconditional and unselfish, the kind that lives in hearts like yours! A beautiful haibun and touching story, Xenia.
